🔒 How We Can Work to Protect the Second Amendment
A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
The Second Amendment has been part of the United States Constitution since 1791. Firearms ownership was one of the key factors in helping the 13 colonies defeat the British Army with the citizen soldier (the minutemen) being integral to that success. The inherent right to self defense being enshrined into the founding documents of our country is distinctly American. These rights are not gifted to us by a benevolent government but are inherent within us because we are children of God. The nature of this inherent right means that it cannot be taken from us, it must be given away. Indeed the 2nd amendment could easily be said to not just be an American right but a human right. ALL good citizens throughout the world have the right to defend themselves from the tyranny of the unjust. Since the beginning of our country there has been a battle between citizens rights and government regulation. There have been and continue to be clear infringements upon this God given right such as the GCA (gun control act) and NFA (national firearms act). The maintenance of rights requires an active and engaged citizenry, it requires us to remain vigilant. Below are several ways individuals and communities can work to protect and preserve the Second Amendment, along with links to trusted sources for further reading.
